A Play in Two Acts

HONEY JOHNSON- 25, third year law student, Ted's wife
POP - 45, Ted's father, charming and he knows it
KAMA JAMAL- 25, basketball player, also trying out for point guard
TABITHA HILLMEYER - 62, attractive older woman, wealthy owner of basketball
team
In addition, there are offstage voices of ANOTHER PLAYER, an ANNOUNCER, ANOTHER PATRON, and MR. COOPERMAN. These can be performed by Kama Jamal, or the stage manager.
NOTE - The actors can be of any American racial or ethnic origin, except for Kama Jamal, who is a black American.
The play begins on a Tuesday evening, in April. It then proceeds to the Friday evening of the next weekend, and ends 3 months later.
The apartment is indicated by a couch, a portable phone, and a TV set. The hotel room is indicated by two beds, a night table between them, a phone, and a dresser. The lounge is simply a round table with four chairs. The basketball court is created by small set of bleachers, and the sound effects of bouncing balls, a scoreboard, a speaker system, and loud buzzer.
Scene One - Tuesday evening, Honey and Ted's apartment
Scene Two - Friday evening, a week and a half later, hotel room in Ft Wayne, Indiana
Scene Three - Saturday morning, basketball court at Ft Wayne Institute of Technology
Scene Four - Saturday night, hotel room, 7 PM, waiting for first cut
Scene One - Saturday night, the hotel lounge, 9 PM
Scene Two- Sunday morning, basketball court
Scene Three - Sunday afternoon, hotel room
Scene Four - Three months later, weekday evening, Honey and Ted's apartment
